Project Spotlight: An 1880s Farmhouse with a New Chapter

We’re excited to begin work on a charming farmhouse-style home built in the 1880s, full of character, history, and heart. Set in a neighborhood our clients love, this renovation is all about creating the space their growing family needs while preserving the timeless appeal of the home they didn’t want to leave.
Our starting point….
Before
Like many older homes, this one came with its fair share of quirks and challenges, tight layouts, limited storage, and the inevitable surprises that come with 140 years of history. Our design-build process started by listening carefully to our clients’ biggest pain points and goals, then working through concepts that balanced modern functionality with respect for the home’s original architecture.
The kitchen will be completely transformed and reconfigured. the faux stone laminate wall you see will be removed.
Before
The room in the rear of the home being used as a playroom will be rebuilt as this was an addition built on gravel and is poorly insulated. This space will become the mudroom, powder bathroom and laundry.
Before
The result is a cohesive plan that feels like it’s always been part of the home. A new garage addition will provide much-needed space, with a primary suite above it featuring a bedroom, walk-in closet, and private bath. The first floor will be reimagined with a renovated kitchen, fit for everyday cooking and effortless entertaining, and a new powder room. Upstairs, the guest bath will get a fresh update, and the basement will gain organized storage under the new addition.

Our integrated design-build approach helps simplify big decisions and navigate the complexities that come with renovating historic homes. From structure to finishes, each step is designed to ensure the new spaces blend seamlessly with the old, both functionally and aesthetically.
We can’t wait to share more as this farmhouse begins its next chapter.
