Lead Carpenter – Residential Remodeling & Renovation
J.P. Hoffman Design Build is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team. This is a key field leadership role reporting directly to the President & CEO and responsible for overseeing daily on-site construction for high-end residential remodeling projects throughout Greater Boston and the South Shore.
The Lead Carpenter will lead a team of skilled carpenters, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. This role requires strong framing and finish carpentry expertise, the ability to read and execute plans, and the leadership skills to maintain productivity, quality, and professionalism on active job sites.
The ideal candidate brings extensive residential remodeling experience, a deep understanding of existing-home construction challenges, and a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship while representing the company well in the field.

Skilled Carpenter – Residential Remodeling & Renovation
J.P. Hoffman Design Build is a residential design-build and general contracting company serving homeowners south of Boston. We are a family-owned firm focused on quality craftsmanship, strong relationships, and thoughtfully executed renovations. We are seeking a Skilled Carpenter to join our growing field team.
This role reports directly to the Lead Carpenter and supports day-to-day construction activities on residential remodeling projects including kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home renovations.
Responsibilities
- Execute assigned carpentry tasks under the direction of the Lead Carpenter
- Perform framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, and related remodeling work
- Work from plans and specifications to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Communicate progress and site needs to the Lead Carpenter
- Support a positive, professional experience for homeowners and team members
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5+ years of residential construction or remodeling experience preferred
- Strong carpentry skills including framing and finish work
- Ability to read plans and follow direction in the field
- Experience with interior/exterior remodeling, windows, doors, and cabinetry preferred
- Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
- Valid driver’s license and own basic tools required

Architectural Draftsperson – coming soon
We will soon be adding an Architectural Draftsperson role to our team to support our design-build process and ongoing project growth. This role will focus primarily on residential construction drawings and design development, with work centered in Chief Architect, which is our preferred platform. Interior design experience is a strong plus and especially valuable in our design-build process.
