“Jason possesses a rare combination of attributes that afford him the simultaneous perspective of an architect, an engineer, and a builder. The end result is a unique, well thought out, elegant extension of our home that truly reflects our highest aspirations.” – Customer testimonial
Now with over 25 years’ experience building and renovating homes, Jason started his career working for other contractors. This was after four years of vocational training which, included furniture building and architectural drafting. As a framing carpenter for new home construction, Jason’s passion for learning allowed him quickly to jump ranks to foreman at only age 19. He later moved to a different company and found himself working alongside architects on historic restoration projects. It is here that he discovered a love and respect for the old homes and the materials and craftsmanship that went into them. His desire to work directly with clients, helping them achieve their home goals, led him to start J.P. Hoffman General Carpentry in 2004.
The company focused mostly on new home modular builds and other custom projects. After restoring his own 1882 farmhouse, Jason’s passion for conserving older homes grew, as did his interest in historic residential architecture. In both older and newer homes, it was obvious to homeowners that Jason had an eye for designing spaces. His thoroughness, immense knowledge of his craft and creative problem-solving abilities produced many design inquiries from homeowners. Clients hired Jason to draw plans for their kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, as well as finished basements, porches, decks and more. This was rather than hiring third party designers who only created the plans and did not perform the work.
The company has since evolved into J.P. Hoffman Design Build Inc. to meet this popular demand. Jason enjoys the challenge of helping homeowners optimize the space they already have, thoughtfully and seamlessly. As both in-house Designer AND Master Carpenter, Jason works directly with clients from Initial Consultation to Scope Development, and through the Final Walk-Through. He brings in his team to work together with homeowners on every decision. This includes fixture selection and project scheduling. Homeowners trust the customer service they receive from Jason’s team and welcome our staff as extended family members.
Jason has his Construction Supervisor License and contracts with subcontractors who are also fully licensed and insured. Jason is a licensed lead-safe renovation contractor, meaning he holds his Lead Safety Contractor’s license from the state of Massachusetts and is an authorized Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) contractor taking the utmost care and precaution when working with lead contaminated debris in older homes. Jason is also a LEED accredited professional with experience and background in “green building” and sustainable homes. J.P. Hoffman Inc. is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USCBC) and commits to the best practices associate with this membership.
Jason and his wife Megan have three incredible children. Baseball, soccer, swim lessons, church activities, and board games encompass a normal week in their household. When he’s not handling the daily business to-do’s and family activities, Jason enjoys farming and outdoor projects and activities, some gourmet cooking, and reading about whatever topic grabs his attention.
Megan is Jason’s wife and provides a balanced approach to the company. Megan has a sport management background and worked for a large non-profit organization, planning sporting and fundraising events before joining the growing, family business. She now handles the day-to-day operations of the company including marketing, finances, and human resources. She is also the person on the other end of a potential client’s phone calls. Perhaps her favorite working role is project manager. She is a main point of contact for new clients, updates current clients on their project schedules, assists them with material selections, photographs complete projects, and more.
Her genuine desire to help others and unbreakable determination to succeed is appreciated by clients who often travel an emotional, remodeling roller coaster. Having a team like J.P. Hoffman in their corner simplifies the process and allows home owners to enjoy their renovation.
Megan and Jason have three children who love exploring just as much as spending time at home. Beyond helping Jason grow their business, Megan volunteers with their church and with her favorite charities. She would travel and explore new regions and cultures every month if she could. She loves the life-altering experience and joy sports can bring to one’s life. She also works as a Fenway Ambassador with the Boston Red Sox.
Chris grew up in West Bridgewater and upon graduation, immediately enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving our country for 8 years. Chris’ experience in sales, management and carpentry makes him a valuable member of the J.P. Hoffman team. He joined us in 2018 as a carpenter and quickly showcased a vast and priceless skill set with his leadership, tenacity and strong work ethic. He has the unique ability to see a problem before it happens and solve it on the spot.
When asked what advice he could share with homeowners looking to tackle a remodel, Chris says, “I would advise someone to consider the difference between a home remodel and a home repair. Home improvement contractors basically swap out the parts while a professional remodeler is like a master mechanic who seeks to understand and address the whole scope of the job.”
At J.P. Hoffman Design Build, Chris appreciates the fusion between the strong work atmosphere and commitment to family. When not dedicating 110% to the job site and contributing to building a successful company, Chris loves spending time with his wife and their six active children. He is also passionate about leading the college ministry at his church. Not one to stand still, Chris also coaches at a Ninja Warrior and obstacle course training center.
