Converting a single sink Primary Bathroom to a Double Vanity
See how we transformed a small and outdated Primary Bathroom into a sophisticated retreat
We’re excited to share the successful completion of our latest bathroom renovation, a project that truly transformed the space into a luxurious retreat. From start to finish, our team worked diligently to reimagine every corner, enhancing functionality and style in a way that reflects our clients’ vision perfectly. This vision was a larger space, with a luxury walk-in shower and a double vanity. But they didn’t know how to add square footage. We first introduced this project via this blog post which includes elevated 3D renderings with our client’s exact (or as close as we could get) finishes.
Where did the additional space come from?
At the outset of this project, we asked our clients to share their list of wants and needs, along with their design inspiration—typically gathered through an Ideabook or Pinboard. As seen in the “before” photo, the Primary Bedroom originally featured a walk-in closet to the right of the armoire and a bathroom to the left. High on the wish list were a larger bathroom with a walk-in shower and double vanity, as well as a more spacious walk-in closet.
Through our Design Build process, we identified an opportunity to expand both spaces by extending the wall into the Primary Bedroom. Our clients were willing to sacrifice some bedroom square footage to achieve their goal of a more generous bathroom and closet. Although the new closet is narrow, our team incorporated custom shelving to maximize storage and create an organized, functional space. You may notice the metal duct work on the left of the below photo. This was leftover from a previous HVAC upgrade project. We were able to enclose the necessary ductwork behind a wall in the new bathroom, and added a valuable linen cabinet.

Reconfiguration of space
Reconfiguring spaces is our specialty—and it truly shines in this completed Primary Bathroom renovation. We removed the existing tub (no worries, the guest bathroom still has one) to make room for a beautiful double walnut vanity and a more spacious walk-in shower. By adding a half wall between the toilet and shower, we were able to incorporate a stylish and functional shower niche, perfect for neatly storing toiletries. A comfortable bench seat was also included in the shower. To complete the transformation, we installed a custom linen closet in the corner, designed to perfectly match the walnut vanity, adding both elegance and practicality.

Double Vanity
An absolute must. As seen from the before photos, a small pedestal sink existed prior to the renovation. Pedestal sinks are great for certain spaces, especially smaller bathrooms that doesn’t get the heavy use of say a Primary or Kid’s Bathroom. Adequate counterspace is a must in our opinion and a HUGE bonus if we can get two sinks or a double vanity into a Primary Bathroom and yes, even a Kid’s Bathroom as seen at this renovation. By enlarging the bathroom, we gained the space for that double vanity. We capped off the elegant space with recessed medicine cabinets and beautiful light fixtures.
Finishing touches
Our clients recently moved into this house, knowing the bathrooms would be the first projects they tackled. As a comprehensive contracting team, we’re also facilitating, planning and scheduling other upgrades, including the painting of all interior spaces, upgrading lighting fixtures, adding electrical outlets to suit their specific needs and more!
