Farmhouse Addition and Kitchen Remodel

2025-11-10T14:27:13-05:00

Project Spotlight: An 1880s Farmhouse with a New Chapter We’re excited to begin work on a charming farmhouse-style home built in the 1880s, full of character, history, and heart. Set in a neighborhood our clients love, this renovation is all about creating the space their growing family needs while preserving the timeless appeal of the home they didn’t want to leave. Our starting point.... Before Like many older homes, this one came with its fair share of quirks and challenges, tight layouts, limited storage, and the inevitable surprises that come with 140 years of history. Our design-build process started by listening carefully to our clients’ biggest pain points and goals, then working through concepts that balanced modern functionality with respect for the home’s original architecture. The kitchen will be completely transformed and reconfigured. the faux stone laminate wall you see will be removed.

Whole-Home Remodel with (2) Additions in Westwood, MA

2025-09-05T14:39:19-04:00

Introducing Our Latest Whole-Home Remodel & Additions in Westwood, MA We’re excited to share a look at one of our latest projects: a whole-home remodel in Westwood, MA that includes not one, but two additions. Like many families, our clients love their neighborhood and community, but their split-level home was no longer functioning for their growing family of six. Together, through our design-build process, we reimagined their home to create more space, better flow, and modern updates throughout. The larger addition is a brand-new primary suite addition built on top of the home (above the main door and bay window in photo above). This spacious retreat includes a luxurious bathroom and two generous walk-in closets, offering privacy and comfort for the homeowners. The second addition, a single room off the rear of the main level (to replace deck in photo below), creates space for a new

How We Transformed a Formal Dining Room into a Dream Kitchen

2025-05-08T13:58:08-04:00

How We Transformed a Formal Dining Room into a Dream Kitchen What started as a confined kitchen — limited to one section at the back of the house — and an underused formal dining room is now a bright, open, and intentionally designed space that connects seamlessly with the rest of the home — and with nature just outside the windows. Our clients were ready to rethink how their first floor worked. The existing kitchen was isolated from the main living spaces, and the formal dining room — though large — rarely saw any use. Meanwhile, their beautiful backyard, filled with birds and wildlife, was barely visible from the main living areas. The solution: open it all up. 📸 Before & After: Kitchen We removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room, allowing us to create a new layout centered around a large working island. The

This Kitchen Layout Wasn’t Working — Here’s How We’re Fixing It

2025-05-08T12:56:52-04:00

Goodbye Formal Dining Room, Hello Light-Filled Kitchen We're opening walls, rethinking flow, and designing with nature in mind. Rendering We’re excited to kick off a kitchen renovation that’s going to bring warmth, light, and purpose back into this home — and we’re sharing the plan before the first cabinet comes off the wall. Saying Goodbye to the Formal Dining Room One of the biggest changes in this remodel? We’ll be removing the wall between the existing kitchen and the formal dining room — an underutilized space the homeowners were more than happy to trade for a larger, more functional kitchen. We’ll also be expanding the opening between the former dining room and the front sitting room, allowing for a more natural flow from space to space. The goal is to create a comfortable layout that feels intentional, open, and better aligned with how this family uses their home.

Timeless Classic: Primary Bathroom Transformation

2024-10-10T10:31:13-04:00

Converting a single sink Primary Bathroom to a Double Vanity See how we transformed a small and outdated Primary Bathroom into a sophisticated retreat We’re excited to share the successful completion of our latest bathroom renovation, a project that truly transformed the space into a luxurious retreat. From start to finish, our team worked diligently to reimagine every corner, enhancing functionality and style in a way that reflects our clients’ vision perfectly. This vision was a larger space, with a luxury walk-in shower and a double vanity. But they didn't know how to add square footage. We first introduced this project via this blog post which includes elevated 3D renderings with our client's exact (or as close as we could get) finishes. Where did the additional space come from? At the outset of this project, we asked our clients to share their list of wants and needs, along with

This Kitchen renovation was almost bigger than it needed to be

2024-10-02T11:02:54-04:00

We took a hard left from the original plan... We were hired to design and build a single story kitchen addition off the back of New England Colonial. Shortly after he got started on the design process, J.P. Hoffman Design Build Owner, CEO and Lead Designer Jason Hoffman pumped the brakes. He quickly realized that an addition was probably unnecessary when there was existing space on the 1st floor not being utilized to it's potential. That sounds like a house pep talk but it's true. In design conversations with our clients, he agreed that yes, the current galley style kitchen was not working for their family of 5 and growing teenagers who like to have friends over and hang out in the kitchen (smart kids). He also recognized that the formal dining room (being used as a playroom and home gym) would make the ideal new home of the

Basement Reinvention in Westwood, MA: Our Next Big Renovation

2024-06-06T10:43:14-04:00

From Storage to Stylish Basement Office, Guest Bedroom, Bathroom & Playroom Adding Basement Square Footage We love when clients call us back for another renovation. A few years ago, we transformed almost every square inch of the main living spaces of this Cape-style home in Westwood, MA. You can see how we transformed the first floor and kitchen here and added a garage with Primary Suite above here. This time, our clients asked us to finish their basement. As their family grew, they converted their second-floor home office into a nursery, leaving our homeowner working at the dining room table. We needed to find a new, more appropriate, and private workspace for a work-from-home client. The existing walkout basement leads to a large patio space, which is under the dining room bump out and deck our team added during the original project. You can also see the existing dining
