We’re all about rethinking awkward spaces and turning them into something practical for today’s modern family! Here, we created a beautiful ensuite Primary Bathroom WITHOUT adding on to the house. How did we do it? By transforming an awkward, underused room (see last photo) across from the Primary Bedroom into not just a bathroom, but also a walk-in closet (you’ll notice the two doors in photo #4 vs. the one in photo #5). Our clients wanted their own bathroom, separate from their kids—not necessarily a large one, just a space that felt like theirs. By reimagining this unused room, we delivered exactly that.

FINAL Update in Our “How Long Does a Kitchen Renovation Really Take?” Series

This full kitchen and bathroom renovation in an 1880s Victorian took about 10 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. Here’s what we accomplished:

✅ Demolition of the existing kitchen, first-floor bathroom, and sitting room
✅ Framing for new kitchen and bathroom layouts (in new locations)
✅ Re-leveling floors + installing a new window
✅ New plumbing, electrical, insulation & upgraded heating
✅ Tiled bathroom and mudroom floors
✅ New hardwood flooring throughout
✅ Custom cabinetry, countertops, appliances & backsplash
✅ Bathroom updates: new toilet, vanity, shower, lighting & hardware
✅ Fresh paint
✅ Project management: scheduling, deliveries, subcontractors, weekly client meetings, inspections

I got a sneak peek today of a completed primary bathroom addition our team just wrapped up. The vanity in that space is the same striking gray-blue as the cabinetry in this photo—and it really works beautifully in any room. (Check out the iPhone photo in stories for a peek!)

And this laundry room? A great example of how utility spaces can still feel warm and intentional. We mixed painted cabinetry with crown molding, quartz and wood countertops, and added some open shelving for texture and personality. That little backsplash moment and patterned floor tile help finish it off just right.

In almost every kitchen renovation, we look for ways to improve natural light—whether that means enlarging a window, relocating it, or opening up walls.

In this project, removing the wall between the kitchen and former laundry room (now relocated) added space and light to what was once a dark, closed-off area.

We replaced the floor-to-ceiling wall that separated the sinks with a half wall, opening up the space and allowing natural light from the skylight to shine through. Not seen under that skylight? A stackable washer and dryer—checking off a major goal for our clients.
