How do you transition from tile to hardwood floors

How do you transition from tile to hardwood floors?

We share one of the ways in this Reel, by using a common trim piece called Schluter Tile Edge or sometimes referred to as “Jolly Edge.”

It allows for a seamless and clean transition between the new tile floor and existing hardwood flooring. This is common when renovating a bathroom but not necessarily the adjacent hallway for example.

One of our most frequently asked questions is.....

"What paint color is that?"

It can be quite amusing when I spot someone slowly creeping by our office, which happens to be located in a 19th Century Carriage Barn. I realize they’re taking a photo from the front seat of their car and chuckle to myself because I know exactly what they’re up to.

Everyone is curious about the deep muted green color that stands out among the standard whites and grays often seen on New England homes. Just yesterday, a gentleman approached with paint samples in hand. When Jason asked if he could assist him, the gentleman explained that he and his wife were painting the exterior of their home and had been inspired by the colors of our barn office. So, he was on a mission to match it. What he wasn’t expecting was Jason intercepting his detective work, inviting him into the workshop, and providing him with the exact information he was ready to work so hard to find.

Watch as we transform a single sink setup into a stylish double vanity! 🧼🧼

✔️By reclaiming some space from the spacious Primary Bedroom of our #jphnewton83 bathroom project, we gained valuable square footage for a luxury walk-in shower, a custom linen cabinet, and a DOUBLE VANITY. We relocated the shower and used the longest wall for not one, but two sinks!

⁉ How can your kitchen work for you?

🙋🏻‍♀This is a question we often ask our clients when starting the kitchen design process. Arguably the hardest working room in the house, how can design and materials decisions alleviate some of the heavy lifting?

Two examples from our #JPHStoughton project:

1⃣ Design a space for a "working sink." (see photo 2 and a video in our "Kitchen/DR Swap" Story Highlight). This is the @kohler 44" Prolific Sink with integrated accessories and multiple work areas including a bamboo cutting board, drying racks and a wash bin.

2⃣ For easier mornings with 3 growing kids, our clients selected @thermador Panel-Ready Under-Counter Double Drawer Refrigerators. (Photo #3) We strategically placed these fridge drawers on the cooktop side of the island. Our clients use these for common breakfast items like eggs, bacon and bread, ready for the cooktop! How smart are they!? Photo #4 shows the drawers seamlessly integrated into the island, thanks to the panel ready drawer fronts.

Floor Plan Swap-a-Roo 🔁

We successfully transformed a previously dark and cramped kitchen into a spacious and functional area within our client’s home. 🏠

This involved relocating the kitchen to an underutilized space, where we installed new cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and flooring. Additionally, we replaced the slider seen in photo #2 with a large window to provide a beautiful backyard view from the kitchen sink. 🌳

The former kitchen sink area was redesigned with another large window to bring in ample natural light, transforming it into the ideal dining room spot (Photos #3 and #4). 🍽️

By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room in our latest kitchen renovation project, we successfully met our client's goals of creating a spacious kitchen with an expanded island.

The new dining room space, now occupies the same area as before, but with an open layout that facilitates seamless flow between rooms, perfect for both daily living and hosting gatherings.
