The before shows outdated fixtures, while the after exudes sophistication with a stand alone soaker tub, deep blue glass shower tiles, a glass mosaic penny round floor, and a bold statement wallpaper.

We reimagined the layout, relocating the linen closet, expanding the shower, and adding a knee wall for privacy, creating a space that balances luxury and functionality.

Almost ready for paint! We’re restoring an 1800s front porch, preserving instead of replacing. New footings, custom balusters turned on the lathe, and the best part: saving rare materials “you just can’t get anymore,” says Founder and CEO Jason Hoffman.

This 1880 farmhouse has been home to a growing family who loves their neighborhood so much, even as their needs have outgrown the space. Over the years, they’ve made thoughtful updates, but now it’s time for their dream renovation.

Our team was brought in to reimagine the home and design a plan that works for today’s family life, adding a garage, primary suite, expanded kitchen, mudroom, and powder room, while also updating the existing full bath.

The result will honor the farmhouse’s history while creating the function and flow this family has been missing.

I recently visited longtime, repeat clients and stood in this very kitchen, now filled with kids’ art projects, high chairs, and a trail of Cheerios while lunch was being prepared for little ones. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

Sure, we get to transform spaces (swipe to the end), but seeing how our clients actually live in and enjoy the spaces we design and build? That’s priceless. And being invited back for additional projects? That means the world to us.

That was the case here—the square footage wasn’t the problem, the layout was:

❌ Doors + cabinetry in all the wrong places

❌ Washer/dryer crammed into the kitchen

❌ Poor flow to the outdoor space

Here’s how we fixed it:

✅ Closed off an underused exterior door → added cabinetry + better fridge location

✅ Relocated washer/dryer → created a walk-in pantry + extra storage

✅ Swapped an exterior door + window → improved flow to the deck + cozy banquette

September gave us a little bit of everything—rest, adventure, celebrations, and meaningful work.

We started the month with a dream trip to Glacier National Park in Montana and Banff/Jasper in the Canadian Rockies. The beauty of those landscapes left us inspired and recharged. Just see the photos! (If you’ve been, or are planning to go, we’d love to swap recommendations!)

Back home, September was full of milestones—birthdays, anniversaries, and the exciting flow of wrapping up projects while starting new ones. It’s in those transitions that we’re reminded how fortunate we are to do this work.

Our team has been hard at work on not one, but two additions for this Westwood home. Plus an interior remodel that will completely transform the way this family lives in their space.

Like many of our clients, this family loves their community and neighborhood but needed more room. They were craving a private primary suite, a larger kitchen, and a more cohesive floor plan.

It’s back-to-school week, which also marks a special milestone for us. Although Jason has been in the industry for more than 30 years, we’ve now spent seven years working together as a husband and wife team.

Jason has been in the industry since 1993, starting on a framing crew, moving into finish carpentry, and eventually launching what is now J.P. Hoffman Design Build.

I (Megan) left a decade+ long career in the non-profit world to join the family business, on the very same day our oldest started kindergarten and our youngest began daycare at just three months old. Needless to say, this week has always carried extra meaning for our family.

Since then, we’ve grown a business built on integrity, creativity, and craftsmanship. We’ve learned, adapted, celebrated, and leaned on the support of our clients, team, and community along the way.
