Your Home - Reimagined
🗝️ Specializing in kitchens & bath remodels with layout reconfigurations📍Greater Boston & South Shore

This bathroom leans into details that feel at home

This bathroom leans into details that feel at home now and will continue to for years to come. Soft blue cabinetry brings subtle color, while polished metal fixtures and a marble-inspired countertop keep the space feeling classic.

It’s a reminder that timeless design doesn’t have to mean playing it safe. It’s about choosing materials and details that feel considered, rather than driven by what’s trending right now.

A look back at where this South Shore kitchen star

A look back at where this South Shore kitchen started and how the finished space came together.

What was once dark, heavy, and closed off now feels bright, warm, and easy to live in. By opening up the layout, bringing in more natural light, and layering softer materials throughout, J.P. Hoffman Design Build transformed the kitchen into a space that feels both elevated and welcoming.

From the white cabinetry and warm wood island to the custom hood detail and oversized pendants, every choice was made to help the room feel intentional, connected, and ready for everyday life.

More square footage isn’t always the answer. Sometimes, it’s about making the space you already have work harder.

In this home, thoughtful changes made everyday life easier.

A built-in bench near the entry creates a landing spot for shoes, bags, and everything that comes through the door.

Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and large pantry cabinets make use of vertical space for more storage, while a large island adds extra seating and a natural place to gather.

Even the half wall between the kitchen and living room serves a purpose. It keeps the spaces connected while creating just enough separation and giving the living room more wall space for furniture.

None of these details dramatically change the size of the home. They simply make better use of it. Because good design starts with how you actually live.

Meet Jason, the President, CEO, and Master Carpenter behind J.P. Hoffman Design Build.

Before he was leading projects, designing spaces, and walking clients through what’s possible in their homes, Jason was learning the craft from the ground up. He started as a framing carpenter, and was running jobs as a foreman shortly thereafter. And that hands-on experience still shapes how he works today.

Jason has a deep respect for older homes, thoughtful design, and the kind of craftsmanship you can feel in the finished space. He’s also the person clients sit across from in the earliest conversations, talking through what’s not working, what could be better, and how to make the home feel more like them.

For Jason, it has never been just about building something beautiful. It’s about listening well, solving the right problems, and creating spaces families are proud to live in.

Before, the kitchen and dining room felt separated

Before, the kitchen and dining room felt separated from the rest of the home.

The dining space was closed off, the kitchen felt tucked away, and the main level wasn’t working as naturally as it could for everyday living.

By removing the wall and pushing the kitchen back, J.P. Hoffman Design Build created a brighter, more connected layout where the kitchen, dining area, and living room all feel like part of the same space.

Now, natural light carries through the main level, the dining area feels open and intentional, and the home is better set up for cooking, gathering, relaxing, and entertaining.

In an open-concept home, no room really stands on

In an open-concept home, no room really stands on its own.

The kitchen, dining area, living room, laundry space, and mudroom may all serve different purposes, but they still need to feel connected. That’s where thoughtful design makes such a difference.

For this home, the goal was to create spaces that each work hard on their own while still flowing naturally into the next.

Cabinetry, wood tones, hardware, lighting, and finishes were selected with the whole home in mind, so the transition from one space to another feels intentional instead of disconnected.

Because a well-designed home isn’t just a collection of beautiful rooms. It’s how those rooms work together for everyday life.

A Cape-style home gaining space in a way that feels like it belongs.

This project adds a new primary suite above the existing attached garage, connecting it to the main house on the second floor and making better use of the home’s footprint.

As part of the renovation, the current primary bedroom will be reworked into two new spaces: a laundry room with a walk-in closet and a kids’ bedroom.

It’s always exciting to see a plan move from paper to framing, where the vision starts becoming part of the home.

As the weather starts to cool, the fireplace becomes the place everyone wants to be.

It’s where quiet mornings feel a little slower and fall evenings feel a little cozier.

For this space, the fireplace adds more than warmth. It creates a focal point that feels timeless, layered, and welcoming as the seasons begin to shift.

Smaller living spaces don’t have to feel small. It’s all about designing for the way you live.

For this Cohasset condo, J.P. Hoffman Design Build created an open, light-filled kitchen with custom cabinetry for added storage and function. Hardwood floors, an ocean-blue island, warm brass details, and thoughtful architectural finishes help the space feel polished without losing its comfort.

Just off the kitchen, the dining and living areas continue that same easy flow, with large windows filling the home with natural light.

Design decisions can feel overwhelming when you’re not sure where to start.

For this kitchen renovation, the homeowners wanted better flow, updated finishes, and a more functional layout, but they also wanted to preserve the rustic character they loved.

By removing a wall, updating the flooring, cabinetry, and backsplash, and guiding each design decision along the way, the finished kitchen now feels open, beautiful, and true to the home.

We’re grateful for kind words like these and for clients who trust J.P. Hoffman Design Build with such an important part of their home.

A bathroom has the potential to be so much more than a place to move through.

It can be where the day begins slowly, with light pouring in and space to get ready without feeling rushed.

It can be where the day ends quietly, with a warm bath, soft finishes, and room to exhale.

For this primary bathroom, every detail was designed to feel calm, open, and restorative.

A space that’s beautiful to look at, and even better to experience.

Think your basement ceilings are too low to ever f

Think your basement ceilings are too low to ever feel like real living space?

You may have more options than you think.

Low ceiling height is common in older homes, and in this 1880s house, the existing basement was especially shallow. At first glance, it could have felt like something the homeowners were simply stuck with.

Instead, our team looked at what was possible. Rather than lifting the house, we dug down, removed the old slab, and poured a new concrete slab with a vapor barrier below it.

That slab was tied into an integrated stepped footing with rebar, creating one solid structure that allowed us to gain height while protecting the integrity of the home.

It’s complex work, but it’s also what made this basement possible.

If your basement has low clearance, it doesn’t mean the space is off limits.

We have the same renovation thoughts you do. Let me explain…

Back to school week always feels like a little reset around here. New routines, busy schedules, and another reminder of just how quickly time goes by.

It also happens to be our work anniversary! This year marks 8 years since I joined Jason at J.P. Hoffman Design Build. ❤️

A lot has changed in those eight years. Our team has grown, our kids have grown, and the business has grown right alongside us. And while we spend our days helping other people figure out how to make their homes work better, we have plenty of those same conversations at our own kitchen table.

Do we renovate or move? Is now the right time? What makes the most sense for our family? Will we still love this decision five years from now?

Turns out, knowing a lot about remodeling doesn’t make those decisions any easier when it’s your own home. 😂
I think that’s one of the things that keeps this work personal for us. We understand that a renovation is about so much more than finishes and floor plans. It’s about how you live, what your family needs, and making a decision you feel good about for years to come.

So, as we celebrate eight years, it felt fitting to share a new photo of the people behind the projects.

Feeling grateful for this business, our team, our clients, and the life we’ve built around it. 🏡

For this South Shore kitchen renovation, the goal was to make the pantry feel intentional, and connected to the rest of the space.

We carried the same white oak used on the island and range hood valance into the pantry framing and shelving.

Inside, the pantry adds everyday function with accessible snack storage for the kids, outlets for a coffee station, and under-shelf lighting that brings in the feel of custom under-cabinet lighting.

Now, whether the doors are open or closed, the pantry feels like a natural extension of the kitchen.

Founder and CEO Jason Hoffman shares a high-level

Founder and CEO Jason Hoffman shares a high-level perspective on choosing between design-build and traditional remodeling.

Both approaches have their place. The key is knowing which one fits your project.

If you’re happy with your layout and simply want to refresh finishes, traditional remodeling may be the right fit.

But when the challenges involve flow, function, storage, walls, cabinetry, or how the space works day to day, design-build offers a more complete process from the start.

It begins by understanding what’s working, what isn’t, and sometimes uncovering needs you may not have noticed. With a full understanding of your existing space and goals, the design and construction team can solve the right problems from the beginning.

That’s when thoughtful design becomes more than a finish upgrade. It becomes a better way to live in your home.

Weighing your options? DM us to discuss what’s right for your project.

Project Highlight: Newton Bathroom Renovations

These two upstairs bathrooms in a 1930s Colonial had vintage charm but lacked function, storage, and everyday comfort.

In the primary bathroom, we bumped out the wall to create room for a walk-in shower and double vanity. A pocket door, recessed medicine cabinets, and expanded storage made the best use of this limited space. The result is a calm, elevated primary bath that feels much more open and usable.

In the guest bathroom, we kept the footprint largely the same but looked for ways to make the space work harder. A recessed linen cabinet adds storage without taking up floor space, and the glass panel above the shower wall preserves natural light.
