One of the most common questions we answer from strangers is: “What paint color is that?”
It can be quite amusing when I spot someone slowly creeping by our office, which happens to be located in a 19th Century Carriage Barn. I realize they’re taking a photo from the front seat of their car and chuckle to myself because I know exactly what they’re up to. But some are bolder than others. They park in the driveway, stride up to the office, and instead of popping in for a visit, they hold up paint chips, attempting to match a color in their hand with our siding or door color. It’s rather hysterical.
This scenario recently unfolded when Jason happened to be outside the barn. A gentleman approached with paint samples in hand. When Jason asked if he could assist him, the gentleman explained that he and his wife were painting the exterior of their home and had been inspired by the colors of our barn office. So, he was on a mission to match it. What he wasn’t expecting was Jason intercepting his detective work, inviting him into the workshop, and providing him with the exact information he was ready to work so hard to find.
But this isn’t the first time such an encounter has occurred. From friends to strangers, even the nurse at our local doctor’s office and random people on the internet, everyone seems curious about the deep muted green color that stands out among the standard whites and grays often seen on New England homes.
Yet, it’s not just the green that captivates. It’s the combination with the deep red door color, tied together with classic white trim and black windows.
Some Background
It’s enjoyable to reminisce about what the barn used to look like. Once part of a working farm, the carriage barn housed the family’s horse and buggy before eventually being repurposed into a chicken barn. When Jason took ownership, he transformed the first floor into his workshop, while the second floor remained solely for storage. However, as our family business grew, the need for a proper office became evident.
Jason and our team embarked on a project to revamp the barn, turning it into a multifunctional space. We relocated the stairs and added an entryway leading up to the second floor, which now serves as our office, meeting space, and additional storage area.
This transformation not only breathed new life into the historic structure but also provided us with a unique and charming workspace that reflects our company’s values and history. It’s a place where creativity thrives and where the past seamlessly blends with the present.
